The x42 Level Meter is a numeric audio signal level meter with a 15dB/sec falloff rate. You can use it to analyse the level of an audio signal by keeping an eye on the RMS, Peak and Hold values. Hold stores the highest Peak level that has been measured. There is a Reset control which resets the Hold value. It is particularly useful for inspecting your signal chain at multiple points, to understand more about what signal levels work best for particular plugins.
